JAKARTA, 24 August 2016 – Indonesia’s top two golfers, according to the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), George Gandranata and Danny Masrin have signed on as brand ambassadors for Zurich, the leading global insurance provider and the BNI Indonesian Masters presenting sponsor.
In addition to providing publicity for the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich between now and when the tournament tees off at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club in October, the duo will also undertake a number of ambassadorial engagements for the company both before and during the tournament.
The move is seen as a further sign of Zurich’s increased commitment to the development of golf in Indonesia. In May, Zurich announced its presenting partner status for the BNI Indonesian Masters and the company is also involved with the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in a long term partnership.
The BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich is one of the most popular events on the Asian Tour since its inception in 2011. The tournament will offer a prize purse of US$750,000 and will be played at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club from October.
Speaking on the new endorsement deal, the 30-year-old Gandranata, who turned professional in 2012 and has been competing on the Asian Tour, Asian Development Tour (ADT) and PGA Tour of Indonesia (PGTI), said:
“I’m delighted to announce a new partnership between myself and Zurich. It’s great news for both me and also golf in Indonesia. To have the backing of one of the world’s top financial service providers will be a huge boost for me and it will go a long way in helping me achieve my aspirations on tour.”
The 24-year-old ADT and fPGTI player, Masrin, who won IGT 4 co-presented by OB Golf & Ancora Sports in June this year, added:
“I’m extremely grateful to Zurich Insurance for their vote of confidence in both George and myself, but also for their wider investment into the golf landscape here in Indonesia. I look forward to working closely with them and their partners in the coming months and to build a long standing relationship.”
Commenting on the new tie-up, Peter Huber, President Director of Zurich Topas Life, and representing Zurich in Indonesia, said: “We’re very pleased to announce George Gandranata and Danny Masrin as official brand ambassadors for Zurich in Indonesia. They are both fine ambassadors for the game of golf both here in Indonesia and throughout Asia, and we look forward to involving them in our business in the coming months.”
“We’re particularly excited about the contribution that the two players will be able to make to this year’s BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich, which together with the tournament’s other partners, we look forward to taking to the next level in 2016.”
Zurich is a global sponsor of golf, with sponsorship investments including the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic in New Orleans, long-term partner status of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, as well as endorsement deals with Olympic champion Justin Rose and world no. 1 Jason Day.
The sixth edition of the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich will see a field of 150 players compete for the US$750,000 prize purse over 72 holes at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club from 6-9 October 2016.
